Non-Executive Directors Reappointed
The Appointments Commission has confirmed the reappointment of
Mr Nagesh Bhayani and Mr Nigel Sudborough CB, OBE as non-executive directors to the Board of Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust.
Mr Nagesh Bhayani is the Principal of Orchard Growth Partners Ltd. A Chartered Director, he has previously held senior finance posts in the engineering and fashion retail sectors. He has been a non-executive director at LPT for 4 years and has a particular interest in the provision of mental health services for older people and a strategic focus on audit within the Trust.
Mr Nigel Sudborough was the Director General of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust and a director of a commercial property company. Previously he enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the Royal Air Force with responsibilities that included financial control and planning, the management of change, and corporate governance. He was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in 2004.
Nigel joined LPT as a non-executive director in April 2007. He is currently deputy chairman of the Trust Board. He has a strategic focus on mental health legislation and estates development within the Trust, as well as a particular interest in adult mental health services.

“I am very pleased that the Appointments Commission has confirmed the reappointment of Nigel and Nagesh. Non-executive directors play an important role in leading, scrutinising and challenging the Trust’s activities and ensuring that the Board as a whole acts in the best interests of local people. I am delighted that they will both be able to continue in this capacity at LPT.”
Their reappointment is effective from 01 April 2011 for a period of 4 years. The appointments process was co-ordinated and approved by the Appointments Commission. The appointees were selected in accordance with the OCPA Code of Practice and they will each receive a remuneration of £6,096 per annum.
All non executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity to be made public. The appointees do not hold any ministerial appointments and have no political activity to declare.
