An advice and information event is being held in Hinckley next month to coincide with World Mental Health Day.

It is being organised by the Hinckley Mental Health Promotion Committee, a group including mental health professionals and users of services from organisations across Hinckley & Bosworth Borough.

They will be available to answer questions and discuss the types of services and help that is available at a stall in the Britannia Centre on Monday 11 October from 10am to 2pm.

One in four people suffer from some form of mental ill health, ranging from anxiety and depression to schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder. However, many people are too ashamed to seek help or even acknowledge that they have a problem.

There are many types of treatments available that can help, but there are also ways in which people can help themselves by taking positive steps to maintain and improve their mental health. People need to take care of their mental health as much as their physical health - as the two are linked to one another.

Information about caring for mental health will also be available at the stall.

Funds raised during the day will be used to provide on a well-being day in January, at a time of the year when everyone needs cheering up.
