Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) is delighted to announce that the independently assessed Patient Environment Action Team scores published today show an increase in the number of ‘excellent’ ratings for the Trust compared to our 2009 scores.

The Trust’s four largest inpatient facilities - the Brandon Unit, the Evington Centre, the Bradgate Unit and the Agnes Unit all received ‘excellent’ ratings for food and ‘excellent’ or ‘good’ for privacy and dignity and ‘good’ ratings for the environment.

The Herschel Prins Centre retained its excellent score in all three of the categories inspected and Tarry View increased its rating for food from ‘good’ to ‘excellent’.

Commenting on the results, Head of Estates and Facilities Gerald Bristow says:

“We are very pleased to have increased the number of excellent scores received overall. We put a lot of effort into making our inpatient environments better, and these scores underline those efforts. The results are a tribute to the on-going hard work of our staff.”

Since the inception of PEAT in 2000 the assessments have become more challenging. The team inspects standards across a range of patient services including food, cleanliness, infection control, and patient environment (bathroom areas, décor, lighting, floors and patient access) to give an overall rating.  PEAT inspectors also ask a series of questions designed to measure patient satisfaction.  Questions this year covered a range of areas including food, aspects of privacy and dignity, as well as cleanliness, access and signage and the patient environment.
