Valuing and Support Carers Report

A report, "Valuing and Supporting Carers", has called on the Goverment to improve the recognition, support and financial assistance offered to carers. The unpaid support carers provide is said to save the public purse an estimated £87bn each year. (29 Aug 08).

Carers Strategy for Leicestershire

Leicestershire County Council and Leicestershire County and Rutland PCT have launched a joint Carers Strategy and Delivery Action Plan 2008-2011 for Leicestershire. (28 Aug 08).

Carers offered opportunity to learn

Carers in the Midlands are being offered a chance to learn new skills and get qualifications through a range of courses through an education project funded by the Lottery for three years. (28 Aug 08).

Report highlights neglect of older adults' mental health

A report has called for urgent action to curb the decline in mental health and wellbeing for the over 65s, which has been severely neglected despite the 2.4 million older adults who are estimated to have depression, impairing their quality of life. (1 Aug 08)
