Mental health and mental well-being are fundamental to the quality of life and productivity of individuals, families and communities, enabling people to experience life as meaningful and to be creative and active citizens.

We are looking at the mental health and wellbeing of the whole population of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland including those at higher risk of mental health problems and those who experience mental health problems.

Purpose of the network

• To act as an expert reference group for other partnerships and organisations.
• To raise awareness of and to promote mental health promotion and wellbeing.
• To raise awareness of and promote social inclusion.
• Driving forward change towards an integrated approach to mental health promotion and social inclusion.
• Driving forward change towards an integrated approach to mental health and physical health.

What will the network do?

• Share local, regional and national good practice and information
• To direct activity and increase understanding of the fundamental importance of mental health and wellbeing across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland
• Identify and provide information on “what works”
• Act as a ‘think tank’ to generate ideas for commissioners, funding bids and service providers
• Deliver activity through the development and achievement of the Mental Health Promotion Action Plan and Strategy
