Strategy & Action Plan 2005-07
Summary of Strategy & Action Plan
Vision
To promote mental health and reduce the discrimination and social exclusion associated with mental health problems.
Aims:
- To promote the mental health of individuals and communities of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Promoting mental health in schools, workplaces, and communities of interest and for individuals at risk and for vulnerable and hard to engage groups.
- Reduce the inequalities experienced by people with mental health problems.
- To combat stigma and discrimination associated with mental health problems resulting in social exclusion.
The action plan is the proposed work plan for the next two years and will put in place key building blocks for future work. The work centres around three areas of activity, forging partnerships, raising awareness & expertise and developing resources. The action plan is based on the gaps identified from a mapping exercise of mental health promotion activity across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland undertaken by the group against evidence-based practice. It also takes into account an overview of mental health needs brought together using census information, national prevalence rates, and surveys, figures about use of local services, local surveys of people who use mental health services and national surveys.
