Work Preparation

The Work Preparation Programme aims to help identify and overcome any barriers that may affect people returning to work after a long period of unemployment or sickness. It is part of the employment assessment.

Work Preparation can help you identify suitable employment, gain work experience, update your skills or build self-confidence.

The programme duration will depend upon your specific needs and can range from a few days or weeks on a part-time or full-time basis. You can discuss this with your Disability Employment Advisor.

The Work Preparation Programme is run on behalf of Jobcentre Plus by provider organisations. Once you have completed the programme the provider will make a final report with a copy being given to both you and the Disability Employment Advisor. The report is used to create an action plan which may include training, further education and looking for a job.

Details of approved Local Work Preparation provider can be obtained from your local Jobcentre Plus office.
