Flexible New Deal
From October 2009 The New Deal was replaced by 'Flexible New Deal in the East Midlands. This will mean that if you have been receiving Jobseeker's Allowance for 12 months (6 in some circumstances) you must take part in Flexible New Deal. Failure to do so may affect your benefits. Flexible New Deal can last for a year and during this time you will remain a customer of Jobcentre Plus.
How is it Delivered?
The Flexible New Deal will be delivered by Provider Organisations on behalf of Jobcentre Plus. After discusing your specific needs an action plan will be put in place. You will do work experience for four weeks to improve your chance of finding a job and training may be available.
Your Responsibilities
Under Flexible New Deal you will have certain responsilities, including making the most of the help offered by your provider. These include:
- Attending meetings and taking pre-arranged phone calls
- Completing any agreed activities
- Attend the jobcentre every 2 weeks and advise Jobcentre Plus of any changes to your circumstances
- Actively look for work
New Deal for Disabled People
This programme is not available in every area. In Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland disabled people will be offered Pathways to Work.
