LAMP is a Registered Charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee.

LAMP is an independent voluntary organisation working to promote good mental health for everyone living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

LAMP believes that those who seek or use mental health services and their families and friends, should have a voice in how those services are provided and planned.

LAMP works throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland offering:

  • Generic Mental Health Advocacy for people of working age experiencing mental distress
  • Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) for people who are legally entitled to specialist advocacy under the Mental Health Act
  • Specialist Older People’s Advocacy for individuals with functional mental health issues but not dementia related illnesses
  • Peer Advocacy, an informal service provided by fully trained and supervised volunteers with personal experience of mental health services
  • Carers' Advocacy for individuals caring for people in mental distress
  • information resources on mental health matters including the lampdirect website and a comprehensive directory of mental health services
  • hosting of service user groups, offering group advocacy, support, and training for mental health service users and their carers to find a common voice and shape current and future service provision
