The Forum Message Board is designed to let you speak out on whatever mental health issue interests you. You can do this either by responding to topics that are already open, or start a new topic. Anyone can view the message board and see what comments have been made, however, if you want to take part and have your say you will firstly have to register.

Registering in the Forum

Joining any message board can seem quite daunting if you have never taken part in one before. However, it really is not as difficult as it might seem. There is a FAQ section, which should answer any of your initial queries as well as provide help in all aspects of the forum. Please note that we have a delayed registration process to prevent abusive messages being left on the message borard. Please ensure that you protect your own identify. Here are few tips to make it easier for you to register.

The Forum Screen

When you enter the Forum for the first time, you will find the options available to you at the top of the screen. The main part of the screen gives a general summary of all the discussion topics that are open. However, to reply or comment on any topic you must first register.

Registering

To register simply click on the "register" option and you will be taken to the privacy policy to which you must agree. Remember that you have the option to cancel at any point during the registration process.

You will then be presented with a form to complete. Remember:

Read the privacy statement. You do have to agree to continue
fields marked with red *asterisks must be completed
Your user name refers to how you want to be known in the Forum
You do not have to use your real name or give any personal information
You can choose to keep your email address hidden
You can use a signature that will be included on all the messages that you put on the Forum

Once registered, you can check your profile details at any time by clicking on the option "profile" at the top of the screen. Your profile details are password protected so only you will be able to edit the details. Other members of the forum can view your profile details, so do check them and amend them from time to time.

Go Ahead

You are now free to respond to any of the main topics and comments, or to start a new topic for discussion. You can participate in the Forum from any internet connected computer, as long as you remember to type in your user name and password on entering.
