How to search the Publications Database

The publications database has been designed to be as easy, and flexible, to use as possible. The step-by-step guide will, however, give you some helpful tips on how to get the best from your search results.

Your set-by-step guide

  1. Type in what you are looking for in the search for box. This is a free field so you type as little or as much as you wish. For example, you could use a keyword (like depression), the name of a particular organisation or the title of a specific leaflet or publication.
  2. Select what category of publication you are looking for. If you are unsure what category you want, or if you want to find everything on a particular topic then select the 'any' option. (please refer to the FAQ for a definition of the category list).
  3. Whilst you cannot search the database date of publication, you can narrow your search to documents that have been recently updated*. This can be helpful if you are looking for a publication that may have been recently added or amended. All new and updated documents are indicated in the search results.
  4. Some publications in the database may have an expiry date. For example, a local or national policy or action plan may be valid for a specific period of time and the archived option* allows to you to look for those particular documents.

*Please remember that selecting these options will narrow your search results considerably. You may prefer to omit them initially to keep you search results as wide as possible.
